Spring tree care tips

1. Inspect trees for evidence of disease and/or insect infestation.
2. Prune dead branches that can be hazardous when they fall.
3. Rake and remove all debris around base of tree that can promote fungal growth.
4. Mulch to retain moisture and keep weeds at bay.
5. Prune branches to thin canopy of tree, reducing risk of falling in storms.
6. Cable branches on trees that are split to avoid cracking/falling in the wind.
7. Avoid hitting tree base with mower or trimmer.
8. Fertilize when trees have been damaged.
9. Remove trees that are leaning, growing roots above ground or are dead.
